My Vegan Lifestyle

As you have probably already guessed by now from this page, I live a vegan lifestyle ( or I'm trying to at least). When I decided to take the plunge from being a vegetarian to being a vegan about 4ish months ago I had no clue what this actually meant. Before August of last year I had been a vegetarian for about 4 years. I had been in a Human Geography class my freshman year of high school, where we watched "Food Inc." and since then I didn't look at meat as just meat. I began to see it as a living, breathing animal. I'm not going to sugar coat it and say I never had a bite of meat again, because that would be a lie. I would eat it on random/ special occasions like Christmas and Thanksgiving. I think I mainly stuck with this because of pressures from family and social media. But for the most part I stuck with this tradition because I didn't think Christmas would be Christmas without turkey on my plate. When I began the journey of being a vegan I didn't realize that being vegan is about more than just the food on your plate. It's about the makeup you use, the clothes you wear, and the accessories you own. When I realized this I struggled with what to do and how to do it. I rationalized with my self that while I do eventually want to live a fully vegan lifestyle that I need to do it bit by bit. If you have ever researched the face products and fabrics you use, you don't really realize that almost everything you use probably isn't considered vegan. Little by little I'm taking out those things from my routines and life, but it's a VERY slow and hard process. I've begun to sell things like boots, purses, wallets, and coats made out of leather or fur, but all of that is nothing compared to what it's going to take to complete my goal. I realize that not everyone that reads this blog is a vegan or even wants to be one, and that's not my goal, but my hopes are that this blog will help me educate people who are curious about lifestyles other than their own. I look forward to getting to share all that I'm passionate about. Thanks for reading :)

Good job Ella
